The Roman Catholic church in Kelenvölgy was designed by the famous Hungarian architect Károly Weihinger. The originally planned belfry was never built, because of the communist regime in the 1950’s. The present church community had organized a student competition for the planning of a belfry and the new functions of the church garden as a ‘passio pathway’ for pilgrims.

The plan proposed a simple wood structure belfry to the church, a community terrace with a fire place and pilgrim accomodations on the attic. Near the community terrace there are a camp site for tents and a vegetable garden for communal cooking. On the top of the garden (on the hill), the urn cemetery was placed, which would be an endpoint of the ‘passio pathway’.
