It was a 4-day trip in the summer of 2025. The weather was beautiful, warm. I traveled by train and I used the well-developed public transportation system of the city (metro, tram, bus) in the whole weekend. The accommodation was near the Porta Nuova train station [3 nights], which is relatively a central area but I rather recommend you not to choose such a strange district like this. It was a trip with lots of high quality post war buildings and the main tourist attractions of the former Italian capital city.
29.05.2025 – The right river bank of the River Po
After arriving to Turin go up to the hill of Monte dei Cappuccini, where the church of Santa Maria stands. From the hill there is a beautiful view to the whole city and the surrounding mountains. The roof of the Mole Antonelliana dominates the skyline. [Tip: The building is now a cinema museum and if you would like to go inside, you should buy a ticket before your visit otherwise you have to wait in the line.] On the right side of the River Po you will find two interesting residential buildings by Jaretti & Luzi on the Piazza Crimea [photo] and on the Corso Moncalieri. On this side stands one of the symbol of the city, the perfectly shaped Chiesa Parrocchiale della Gran Madre di Dio. Walk through the Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I and take a look on the most impressive square of the city, the Piazza Vittorio Veneto.

30.05.2025 – Along the areas next to the southern railway tracks
South to the railway tracks you can see the strictly planned city with the straight lines of the streets. Visit the Parco Valentino and some residential buildings by Jaretti & Luzi. Take the metro and go to the Lingotto, which was the former FIAT factory. The huge building of Lingotto is today a shopping mall, a hotel and an art museum. Go inside the museum and you can go up to the rooftop: La Pista. The famous car ramp is amazing [photo]. From the Lingotto building you can walk over the tracks by a pedestrian bridge to the former Olympic village. After this industrial experience take the bus and go the Stupinigi Palace, which is an impressive rococo style residence with a nice garden. [Tip: You can have lunch or dinner just next to the palace in the Ristorante Sabaudia, which serves piemontese dishes.]

31.05.2025 – The main tourist attractions and the city centre
Start the day at the Venaria Palace, which is near Turin in Venaria Reale. [Tip: Go by train, because it is the fastest way to reach this suburb town.] It was the summer residency of the House of Savoy with a huge garden. The most impressive room in the palace is the Great Gallery. Go back to Turin and go directly in the city centre. [Tip: You can have lunch at the Ristorante Solferino.] The main tourist attractions are around the Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Castello. You should visit two relevant baroque buildings by the architect Guarino Guarini: the Palazzo Carignano and the Real Chiesa di San Lorenzo. One the most important post war buildings in Italy is the Teatro Regio by Carlo Mollino [photo]. [Tips: Book a guided tour. It is only in Italian, but it is really worth to see the inside of this fantastic building. The former house of Mollino is also possible to visit.]

01.06.2025 – The north of the city
Go to the north of the city. The neighbourhood of the Parco Dora [photo] is a revitalized industrial area. The Chiesa del Santo Volto is also not that far and it was designed by Mario Botta. After a lunch it is time to leave the city.

And here is the map:
